Salad Base

Method

Preparation of Salad Base

  1. 1

    Soak the Seaweed

In a bowl, soak 1 cup of dried wakame seaweed in cold water for about 10-15 minutes until it expands and softens. Drain and squeeze out excess water.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the seaweed is soaking, wash and thinly slice the cucumber, carrot, and radishes. You can use a mandoline for thin slices.

Making the Dressing

  1. 3

    Mix the Ingredients

In a small bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, and 1 tablespoon of honey or agave syrup until well combined.

  2. 4

    Add Seasoning

Stir in 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds and add chili flakes to taste. Adjust the flavors as desired.

Combining Everything

  1. 5

    Combine the Salad

In a large mixing bowl, combine the soaked seaweed, sliced cucumber, carrot, and radishes.

  2. 6

    Dress the Salad

Pour the dressing over the salad mixture and toss gently to coat all ingredients evenly.

  3. 7

    Let it Sit

Allow the salad to sit for about 5-10 minutes to let the flavors meld together before serving.
