Brisket Preparation
- 1
Season the Brisket
In a small bowl, mix together chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Rub this spice mixture all over the brisket.
- 2
Sear the Brisket
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on all sides until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- 3
Slow Cook the Brisket
Transfer the seared brisket to a slow cooker. Pour beef broth over the brisket. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the brisket is tender.
- 4
Slice the Brisket
Once cooked, remove the brisket from the slow cooker and let it rest for 15 minutes before slicing it against the grain.
Onion Rings Preparation
- 5
Slice the Onions
Peel and slice the large onions into 1/4 inch thick rings.
- 6
Prepare the Breading
In a bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Dip each onion ring into buttermilk and then into the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
