Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Marinade
In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger, and black pepper. Mix well until the sugar is dissolved.
- 2
Marinate the Beef
Place the beef brisket in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the brisket, ensuring it is fully coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
Cooking
- 3
Preheat the Grill or Oven
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- 4
Sear the Brisket
Remove the brisket from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off. Sear the brisket on the grill for 5-7 minutes on each side until a nice crust forms.
- 5
Cook the Brisket
If using a grill, after searing, move the brisket to a cooler part of the grill, close the lid, and cook for an additional 1.5 to 2 hours until tender. If using an oven, place the brisket in a baking dish, cover with aluminum foil, and bake for about 3 hours, or until tender.
