Fried Pickles

Method

Fried Pickles

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Remove the dill pickles from the jar and pat them dry with paper towels. This helps to avoid excess moisture when frying.

  2. 2

    Make the Breading

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Wet Mixture

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until smooth.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Coat the Pickles

Dip each pickle slice into the wet mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge in the breading mixture until fully coated.

  6. 6

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully place the coated pickles into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the fried pickles hot with ranch dressing on the side.

Ranch Dressing

  1. 8

    Mix the Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, dried dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and buttermilk.

  2. 9

    Whisk Until Smooth

Whisk all the ingredients together until the dressing is smooth and creamy.

  3. 10

    Chill

Cover the ranch dressing and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
