Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it's ready for baking.

Prepare the Baking Pan
Grease an 8x8 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Combine Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, and baking powder until well combined.

Melt Butter
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the unsalted butter in the microwave until fully melted, about 30-60 seconds.

Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures
Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Fold in chocolate chips and/or chopped nuts if using.
Baking

Pour Batter into Pan
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
