Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it's ready for baking.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Baking Pan

Grease an 8x8 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Mixing Ingredients

  1. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, and baking powder until well combined.

  2. 4

    Melt Butter

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the unsalted butter in the microwave until fully melted, about 30-60 seconds.

  3. 5

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  4. 6

    Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  5. 7

    Add Optional Ingredients

Fold in chocolate chips and/or chopped nuts if using.

Baking

  1. 8

    Pour Batter into Pan

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.

  2. 9

    Bake Brownies

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  3. 10

    Cool and Serve

Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then lift them out using the parchment paper and cut into squares. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
