Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare shaker

Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice (about 1 cup) to thoroughly chill and dilute the drink to the proper balance.

  2. 2

    Add spirits and juices

Pour 2 oz Smirnoff Cherry vodka, 0.5 oz black raspberry liqueur, 0.5 oz Amaretto, 2 oz cranberry juice, and 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice into the shaker over the ice.

  3. 3

    Add cherries

Drop 2 Amarena cherries (including a small spoonful of their syrup if you want extra cherry depth) into the shaker.

  4. 4

    Shake

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold and slightly frosted. This chills, dilutes, and integrates the Amaretto and liqueur with the juices.

  5. 5

    Strain

Double-strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe or a rocks glass filled with fresh ice using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine-mesh strainer to remove cherry solids and ice shards.

Garnish & Finish

  1. 6

If you like a deeper cherry color and flavor, add about 0.25 oz (a few drops) of Amarena cherry syrup to the top of the drink and gently drop in one Amarena cherry. Twist a lemon peel over the cocktail to spray oils, rub the rim with the peel and drop or rest a lemon wheel on the glass.

  2. 7

Serve immediately. Recommend serving as a single 1-serve cocktail. Provide a cocktail pick for the cherry if served in a rocks glass.
