Method

Tri-Tip Sirloin Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Meat

In a small bowl, mix olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and chopped fresh rosemary. Rub this mixture all over the tri-tip sirloin, ensuring it's well coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes at room temperature or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F or 200°C). If using a stovetop skillet, heat over medium-high heat.

  3. 3

    Cook the Sirloin

Place the marinated tri-tip sirloin on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting time if you prefer it more or less cooked. Use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare.

  4. 4

    Rest the Meat

Once cooked, remove the tri-tip from the heat and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Side Salad Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare the Salad

In a large bowl, combine mixed greens, halved cherry tomatoes, and diced cucumber. Toss gently to mix.

  2. 6

    Make the Dressing

In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Drizzle this dressing over the salad just before serving.

Choice of Side Preparation

  1. 7

    Roasted Potatoes

If choosing roasted potatoes, preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Cut potatoes into wedges, toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper, and roast for 25-30 minutes until golden and crispy.

  2. 8

    Steamed Broccoli

If choosing steamed broccoli, bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add broccoli florets and steam for 5-7 minutes until tender but still bright green.
