Burger Patties

Toppings

Method

Prepare the Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Use your hands to mix until evenly combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions (about 1/3 lb each) and shape them into patties that are slightly larger than the buns, as they will shrink while cooking. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

Cook the Burgers

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes. If using a skillet, add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the formed patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium doneness. If adding cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 5

    Toast the Buns

While the burgers are cooking, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 6

    Add Toppings

On the bottom half of each bun, add lettuce, a slice of tomato (sliced from the whole tomato), pickles, and the cooked burger patty. Top with ketchup and mustard, then place the top half of the bun on.
