Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into evenly sized strips (about 1/4 inch thick) to ensure even cooking.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potato strips in a large bowl of cold water. Soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch, which helps them become crispier.

  3. 3

    Dry the Potatoes

After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep fryer or a large heavy pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a handful of dried potato strips to the hot oil. Do not overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Remove the fries from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. While still hot, sprinkle with salt, pepper, and paprika to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the French fries hot as a side dish or snack. Enjoy!
