Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix dry ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Add wet ingredients

Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth. Stir in boiling water until well combined.

  4. 4

    Bake

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool.

Chocolate Ganache Preparation

  1. 5

    Heat the cream

In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it starts to simmer.

  2. 6

    Combine with chocolate

Remove from heat and add the chocolate chips. Stir until completely melted and smooth. Let it cool slightly before using.

Strawberry Glaze Preparation

  1. 7

    Cook strawberries

In a saucepan, combine the fresh strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat until the strawberries break down and the mixture thickens, about 10 minutes.

  2. 8

    Cool

Remove from heat and let the glaze cool before using.

Assembly

  1. 9

    Layer the cake

Once the cakes are cool, place one layer on a serving plate, spread a layer of ganache on top, and then place the second layer on top.

  2. 10

    Frost with ganache

Pour the remaining ganache over the top and let it drip down the sides.

  3. 11

    Add glaze

Drizzle the strawberry glaze over the top of the ganache and garnish with fresh strawberries.
