House Cocktail Flight (serves 4)
Method
House Cocktail Flight (four distinct cocktails)
- 1
1 — Block Margarita (tequila)
Combine 2 oz blanco tequila, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz orange liqueur and 0.25 oz agave syrup in a shaker with 1 cup ice. Add a pinch (about 1/8 tsp) salt. Shake vigorously 12–15 seconds until well chilled. Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wheel and a light salted rim: run lime wedge around glass and dip rim into coarse salt (about 1/4 tsp per glass).
- 2
2 — Neighborhood Old Fashioned (bourbon)
In a mixing glass, add 2 oz bourbon, 0.25 oz simple syrup, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters. Add 3 large ice cubes and stir gently for 20–30 seconds until chilled and slightly diluted. Strain into a rocks glass over one large ice cube. Express an orange peel over the drink and drop it in as garnish. For a slight herbal lift, slap 2 basil leaves and float them on top.
- 3
3 — Corner Gimlet (gin)
Add 2 oz gin, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice and 0.5 oz simple syrup to a shaker with 1 cup of ice. Shake vigorously 10–12 seconds and double-strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass. Garnish with a thin cucumber slice floated on top or a small basil leaf.
- 4
4 — Spritz From The Block (light, bubbly)
Build in a stemmed wine glass: 1.5 oz Campari, 0.75 oz fresh grapefruit juice, 0.5 oz simple syrup, 1 oz dry vermouth. Add 1 cup ice and gently top with 1.5 oz club soda. Stir once gently to combine. Garnish with a grapefruit wedge and a sprig of mint (clap the mint between your palms first to release aromatics).
- 5
Serve the four cocktails together as the 'Cocktails From The Block' flight. Provide small tasting pours if desired (reduce each spirit by half and adjust mixers proportionally). Offer extra garnishes—lime, lemon twist, grapefruit wedge—and additional ice. Ensure each cocktail glassware matches style (rocks for Margarita and Old Fashioned, coupe for Gimlet, wine glass for Spritz). Total yield: four cocktails.
