Build
Fill a rocks glass (old-fashioned glass) with ice to the top. Pour 1 oz Campari over the ice, then pour 1 oz sweet vermouth (rosso) on top.

Top
Gently top the Campari and vermouth with about 2 oz chilled soda water. Pour slowly over the back of a spoon or down the side of the glass to preserve a light effervescence.

Stir
Give the drink one or two gentle short stirs with a bar spoon to integrate the ingredients without knocking out too much carbonation.

Garnish & Serve
Express the oils of an orange twist over the glass by holding the twist skin-side down and giving it a quick squeeze, then rub the rim with the peel and drop it (or a fresh orange slice) into the drink. Serve immediately.
