Method

Burger Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Patties

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined. Form the mixture into four equal-sized patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.

  2. 2

    Cook the Beef Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

Whiskey Caramelized Onions Preparation

  1. 3

    Slice the Onions

Thinly slice the medium onions and set aside.

  2. 4

    Caramelize the Onions

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and salt. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently, until the onions are golden brown and caramelized.

  3. 5

    Add Whiskey and Sugar

Stir in the whiskey and brown sugar. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the mixture to thicken slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.

Burger Assembly

  1. 6

    Assemble the Burgers

Toast the burger buns if desired. On the bottom half of each bun, place a leaf of lettuce, followed by the cooked beef patty topped with melted cheddar cheese. Add a generous spoonful of the whiskey caramelized onions on top.

  2. 7

    Add Condiments

Slice the tomato and place a slice on top of the onions. Add ketchup and mustard to taste, then place the top half of the bun to complete the burger.

  3. 8

    Serve

Serve the whiskey burgers immediately with your choice of sides.
