Base

Method

Preparing Rice

  1. 1

    Rinse and Cook Rice

Rinse the short-grain rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine the rinsed rice and 2.5 cups of water in a rice cooker or pot. Cook according to rice cooker instructions, or bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until water is absorbed.

Cooking Vegetables

  1. 2

    Sauté Carrot and Zucchini

In a skillet, heat a bit of oil over medium heat. Add julienned carrots and zucchini. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until tender, then season with a pinch of salt. Remove and set aside.

  2. 3

    Sauté Mushrooms

In the same skillet, add sliced mushrooms. Sauté for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove and set aside.

  3. 4

    Blanch Spinach

Bring a pot of water to a boil and blanch the spinach for about 1-2 minutes. Drain and rinse under cold water to stop cooking. Squeeze out excess water and set aside.

  4. 5

    Sauté Bean Sprouts and Radish

In the same skillet, add bean sprouts and sliced radish. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until slightly tender. Season with salt. Remove and set aside.

Cooking Protein

  1. 6

    Cook Ground Beef

In the same skillet, add the ground beef. Cook over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 7

    Fry Eggs

In another skillet, add a small amount of oil and fry the eggs sunny-side up or to your preference. Season with salt and pepper.

Assembling the Dish

  1. 8

    Serve BiBimBap

In a hot stone bowl (or a regular bowl if unavailable), layer the cooked rice at the bottom. Arrange the sautéed vegetables, cooked beef, and fried egg on top. Drizzle with soy sauce, sesame oil, and gochujang. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve immediately, mixing everything together before eating.
