Sauce

Main Ingredients

Method

Prepare the Sauce

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, and sesame oil. Whisk together until the sugar is fully dissolved.

  2. 2

    Set Aside

Set the sauce aside to let the flavors meld while you prepare the chicken.

Prepare the Chicken

  1. 3

    Marinate the Chicken

Place the boneless chicken thighs in a large resealable bag. Pour half of the prepared sauce over the chicken, seal the bag, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 4

    Grill the Chicken

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade and grill for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).

  3. 5

    Baste with Sauce

In the last few minutes of cooking, brush the chicken with the remaining sauce for extra flavor.

Serve the Dish

  1. 6

    Prepare the Plate

Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.

  2. 7

    Assemble the Dish

Serve sliced chicken thighs over a bed of cooked rice. Garnish with chopped green onions, sesame seeds, and pickled ginger.

  3. 8

    Enjoy!

Drizzle any remaining sauce over the top and enjoy your Samurai dish!
