Meat and Marinade

Method

Marinating the Meat

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped green onions, and black pepper. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Beef

Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, preferably 2-3 hours for maximum flavor.

Stir-Frying

  1. 3

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the beef is marinating, thinly slice the onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Set aside.

  2. 4

    Cook the Beef

In a large skillet or wok, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Remove the beef from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and add it to the skillet. Stir-fry for about 4-5 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

  3. 5

    Cook the Vegetables

In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if needed, then add the sliced onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until they are tender but still crisp.

  4. 6

    Combine Beef and Marinade

Return the beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour in the reserved marinade and stir well. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through and the sauce slightly thickens.

Serving

  1. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Transfer the Bul Go Gee to a serving platter. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and additional chopped green onions. Serve hot with steamed rice or lettuce wraps.
