Pickling Brine and Vegetables
Method
Pickling Process
- 1
Prepare the Vegetables
Wash and slice all the vegetables as indicated. Place them in a large mixing bowl.
- 2
Make the Brine
In a saucepan, combine water, white vinegar, sugar, salt, mustard seeds, black peppercorns, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a boil over medium heat until sugar and salt are dissolved.
- 3
Combine and Cool
Pour the hot brine over the vegetables in the mixing bowl. Add the crushed garlic and dill sprigs. Stir gently to combine and allow to cool to room temperature.
- 4
Jar the Pickles
Once cooled, transfer the mixture into sterilized jars, ensuring the vegetables are submerged in the brine. Seal the jars tightly.
- 5
Refrigerate
Refrigerate the jars for at least 24 hours before consuming to allow flavors to meld. They can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
