Method

Preparing the dough

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yogurt, activated yeast mixture, and oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Preparing the stuffing

  1. 5

    Prepare Stuffing

In a bowl, mix your choice of stuffing ingredients: sesame seeds, garlic, green chilies, grated cheese, chili powder, rosemary, apricots, and either cooked chicken or paneer.

Assembling and cooking the naan

  1. 6

    Divide Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into equal portions (about 8 balls).

  2. 7

    Roll & Stuff Naan

Take one ball, flatten it into a disc, and place a generous amount of stuffing in the center. Fold the edges over the stuffing and pinch to seal. Roll it out gently into a naan shape.

  3. 8

    Cook Naan

Preheat a skillet or tandoor over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.

  4. 9

    Serve

Brush the cooked naan with melted butter or ghee and serve warm with your favorite chutney or curry.
