Boil Water
In a saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil over medium heat.

Add Spices
Once the water is boiling, add the grated ginger, crushed cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, cloves, and crushed black peppercorns to the water.

Simmer Spices
Reduce heat and let the spices simmer for about 5 minutes to release their flavors.

Add Tea Leaves
Add 2 tablespoons of black tea leaves to the simmering mixture and let it brew for another 2-3 minutes.

Add Sugar
Stir in 2 tablespoons of sugar, adjusting to taste, and let it dissolve completely.

Add Milk
Pour in 1 cup of whole milk and bring the mixture back to a gentle boil.

Strain and Serve
Once boiling, strain the chai into cups using a fine mesh strainer to remove the spices and tea leaves. Serve hot.
