Sauce

Method

Chicken Marinade

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a large bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, grated ginger, minced garlic, garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Chicken

Add the chicken thighs to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight.

Cooking the Chicken

  1. 3

    Cook the Chicken

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add the marinated chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 7-10 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Make the Sauce

In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.

  2. 5

    Add Aromatics

Stir in the minced ginger and garlic, cooking for another minute until fragrant.

  3. 6

    Add Tomato Puree and Spices

Add the tomato puree, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and simmer for about 10 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  4. 7

    Incorporate Cream

Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream, mixing until well combined. Let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes.

Combine

  1. 8

    Combine Chicken and Sauce

Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, coating it in the creamy tomato sauce. Simmer for another 5 minutes to heat the chicken through and meld the flavors.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve

Serve hot with rice or naan, garnished with fresh cilantro if desired.
