Ravioli

Method

Ravioli Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ravioli

If using frozen ravioli, cook them according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and let cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Breading Station

Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with a beaten egg, and one with bread crumbs mixed with salt and pepper.

  3. 3

    Bread the Ravioli

Dip each ravioli in flour, then into the beaten egg, and finally coat with the bread crumb mixture. Ensure they are evenly coated.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of bread into it; if it sizzles, it's ready.

  2. 5

    Fry the Ravioli

Carefully add the breaded ravioli to the hot oil, in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side.

  3. 6

    Drain Excess Oil

Remove the fried ravioli with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Marinara Sauce

  1. 7

    Prepare the Marinara Sauce

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

  2. 8

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir well and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.

  3. 9

    Finish the Sauce

Stir in chopped fresh basil and remove from heat.

Serving

  1. 10

    Plate the Dish

Serve the toasted ravioli hot, sprinkled with grated Parmesan cheese, alongside the marinara sauce for dipping.
