Method

Prepare the Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Ground Beef

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Gently mix until just combined. Do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

Cook the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes until hot.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until a nice crust forms. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium-rare or longer if desired.

Prepare the Toppings

  1. 5

    Slice the Tomato

While the patties are cooking, slice the tomato into thin rounds.

  2. 6

    Wash and Prepare the Lettuce

Wash the lettuce leaves and pat them dry.

Assemble the ShackBurger

  1. 7

    Toast the Buns

Optionally, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster for a few minutes until golden brown.

  2. 8

    Build the Burger

Spread 1 tablespoon of ShackSauce on the bottom half of each burger bun. Place a patty on each bun, followed by 1 leaf of lettuce and a slice of tomato. Top with the other half of the bun.
