Method

Preparation of Chicken

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chicken

Begin by flattening the chicken breasts to an even thickness for uniform cooking. You can do this by placing them between two sheets of plastic wrap and gently pounding them with a meat mallet.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three separate shallow bowls, set up your breading station: one bowl with flour mixed with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder; the second bowl with beaten eggs; and the third bowl with bread crumbs.

  3. 3

    Bread the Chicken

Coat each chicken breast first in the seasoned flour, then dip it in the egg, and finally coat it with bread crumbs, ensuring even coverage. Place the breaded chicken on a plate.

Cooking the Chicken

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of bread into it; if it sizzles, it's ready.

  2. 5

    Fry the Chicken

Carefully place the breaded chicken breasts in the hot oil. Fry them until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

  3. 6

    Drain and Rest

Once cooked, remove the chicken from the skillet and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Let it rest for a few minutes.

Assembling the Shack

  1. 7

    Prepare the Toppings

While the chicken rests, wash and dry the lettuce leaves, and slice the tomato into thick rounds.

  2. 8

    Assemble the Chicken Shack

On a serving plate, place the crispy chicken breast. Top it with a generous portion of lettuce and a slice of tomato. Drizzle or spread ShackSauce on top to taste.

  3. 9

    Serve

Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade Chicken Shack!
