Prepare the Oven and Pans
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients
Pour the wet ingredient mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined.

Add Carrots and Nuts
Fold in the grated carrots and chopped walnuts into the batter until evenly distributed.

Bake the Cakes
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool the Cakes
Remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, turn the cakes out onto wire racks to cool completely.

Prepare the Cream Cheese Frosting
In a bowl, beat the cream cheese and unsalted butter together until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and milk, mixing until creamy and well combined.

Frost the Cakes
Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of cream cheese frosting on top, then place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.
