Blackened Salmon Ingredients

Method

Blackened Salmon Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce

In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, and heat over medium heat. Stir until the honey is dissolved and the mixture is smooth. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened, then set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Blackening Spice

In a small bowl, mix together paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper to create a blackening spice blend.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  4. 4

    Season the Salmon

Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Rub the blackening spice mixture evenly over both sides of each fillet.

  5. 5

    Cook the Salmon

Carefully place the seasoned salmon fillets in the hot skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until the salmon is cooked through and has a blackened crust. Remove from skillet and keep warm.

  6. 6

    Steam the Rice

While the salmon is cooking, prepare the rice according to package instructions. Typically, this will involve combining 1 cup of rice with 2 cups of water, bringing to a boil, then reducing heat, covering, and simmering for about 18-20 minutes.

  7. 7

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet used for the salmon, add sesame oil. Once hot, add the mixed vegetables and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they are tender-crisp.

  8. 8

    Serve

Plate the blackened salmon topped with homemade teriyaki sauce, serve alongside steamed rice and sautéed vegetables.
