Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Method

Cooking the Steak

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Generously season the Black Angus New York Strip Steak with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder on both sides.

  2. 2

    Heat the Pan

In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Add the seasoned steak to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or adjust to your desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Add Butter

In the last minute of cooking, add butter to the pan, spooning the melted butter over the steak.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Making Garlic Mashed Potatoes

  1. 6

    Boil Potatoes

Peel and cut the potatoes into quarters. Boil them in salted water until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 7

    Cook Garlic

While the potatoes cook, mince the garlic and sauté it in butter over low heat until fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.

  3. 8

    Mash Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the sautéed garlic, milk, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Sautéing Green Beans

  1. 9

    Prepare Green Beans

Trim the ends of the green beans and rinse them under cold water.

  2. 10

    Sauté Green Beans

In a pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add green beans, salt, and pepper. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until tender-crisp.

Preparing Optional Shrimp Topping

  1. 11

    Season the Shrimp

Toss the shrimp with olive oil, garlic powder, and lemon juice.

  2. 12

    Cook the Shrimp

In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and are cooked through.
