Shrimp and Battering

Method

Fried Shrimp

  1. 1

    Prepare the Batter

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and paprika. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and milk together until combined.

  2. 2

    Batter the Shrimp

Dip each shrimp into the egg mixture, letting any excess drip off, then dredge in the flour mixture, ensuring each shrimp is well coated.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Fry the Shrimp

Carefully add the battered shrimp to the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Fries

  1. 5

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and cut the potatoes into fry shapes. Soak them in cold water for about 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  2. 6

    Heat the Oil

In a separate pot, heat the oil for frying the fries to 350°F (175°C).

  3. 7

    Fry the Potatoes

Drain and pat dry the soaked potatoes. Carefully add the fries to the hot oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with salt.

Coleslaw

  1. 8

    Mix the Coleslaw Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, grated carrot, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.

  2. 9

    Chill the Slaw

Cover and refrigerate the coleslaw for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Cocktail Sauce

  1. 10

    Combine Ingredients

In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce until well combined.
