Method
Preparation
- 1
- 2
Cut Potatoes into Fries
Slice each potato lengthwise into quarters, then cut each quarter into strips about 1/4 inch thick to form fries.
Soaking
- 3
Soak the Cut Fries
Place the cut fries into a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and results in crispier fries.
Frying
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.
- 5
Dry the Fries
After soaking, drain the fries and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 6
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add the dried fries to the hot oil in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-6 minutes, until golden brown.
- 7
Drain and Season
Once the fries are golden and crispy, remove them from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Immediately sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder to taste.
Serving
- 8
Serve Hot
Serve the French fries hot as a side dish or snack. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce!
