Method

Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patty

In a mixing bowl, combine the Black Angus ground beef with salt and black pepper. Form into two equal-sized patties, approximately 1/2 lb each.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patty

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach the desired doneness.

Bourbon Bacon Jam

  1. 3

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy. Remove bacon and let drain on paper towels, reserving the bacon grease in the skillet.

  2. 4

    Make the Jam

In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook until translucent. Add the cooked bacon, brown sugar, bourbon, apple cider vinegar, and black pepper. Simmer for about 15-20 minutes or until the mixture thickens.

Export Ale Onions

  1. 5

    Sauté the Onions

In another skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add sliced large onions and cook until softened. Pour in the Export Ale and cook until the onions are caramelized and the ale reduces, about 10-15 minutes.

Beer Mustard

  1. 6

    Mix the Mustard

In a small bowl, combine yellow mustard and beer. Stir until well mixed and set aside.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 7

    Build the Burger

Toast the burger buns lightly. Place the cooked patty on the bottom bun, add a slice of provolone cheese, a generous spoonful of bourbon bacon jam, and a layer of export ale onions. Drizzle with beer mustard and top with the other half of the bun.
