Method
Preparing the French Toast Base
- 1
Slice the Bread
Cut the French bread into 1-inch thick slices and arrange them in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
- 2
Mix the Egg Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- 3
Combine with Bread
Pour the egg mixture evenly over the slices of bread, ensuring each piece is well coated. Press the bread down gently to soak up the mixture.
- 4
Chill
Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best results.
Baking the French Toast

Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Bake
Remove the plastic wrap from the baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
Preparing the Topping

Prepare Berries
While the French toast is baking, rinse and prepare the mixed berries by slicing strawberries if needed.
- 8
Prepare Whipped Cream
If using frozen whipped cream, allow it to thaw slightly before serving. You can also whip heavy cream until soft peaks form if preferred.
- 9
Dust with Powdered Sugar
Once the French toast is baked, dust it with powdered sugar before serving.
Serving
- 10
Plate the Dish
Serve slices of the baked French toast on plates topped with mixed berries and a dollop of whipped cream.
