Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm milk (about 110°F) with 1 tablespoon of sugar and the yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- 2
Make Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Melt 1/2 cup of butter and add it to the dry ingredients along with the activated yeast and eggs. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead Dough
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Filling Preparation
- 4
Prepare Filling
In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped pecans. Set aside.
- 5
Roll Out Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle (about 1/2 inch thick). Spread the remaining tablespoon of butter over the dough and sprinkle the filling evenly on top.
- 6
Shape Rolls
Starting from one edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut into 12 equal pieces.
Baking and Glazing
- 7
Prepare Glaze
In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, 1/2 cup butter, and heavy cream. Cook over medium heat until sugar is dissolved and the mixture is bubbling. Stir in chopped pecans.
- 8
Bake Rolls
Pour the glaze into a greased skillet and arrange the rolls on top. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- 9
Serve
Let the sticky buns cool for a few minutes before inverting onto a serving platter. Enjoy warm!
