Preparation of Base

Combine Filtered Water and Sugar
In a large pot, combine 4 cups of filtered water with 1 cup of granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring continuously until the sugar completely dissolves.

Adding Acidulant

Incorporate Citric Acid
Stir in 1 teaspoon of citric acid into the mixture. This will enhance the flavor and provide a slight tartness to balance the sweetness.
Optional Coloring

Add Natural Coloring (if desired)
If you wish to add color to your soda, add 1 drop of natural food coloring to the mixture and stir until the color is uniform.
Carbonation

Combine with Carbonated Water
Let the mixture cool completely. Once cooled, gently combine it with 2 cups of carbonated water in a large pitcher. Stir gently to maintain the carbonation.
Serving

Serve Chilled
Pour the Capt’n Eli’s Soda over ice in glasses and serve immediately. Enjoy your all-natural, preservative-free soda!
