Base Ingredients

Acidulant

Coloring (optional)

Carbonation

Method

Preparation of Base

  1. 1

    Combine Filtered Water and Sugar

In a large pot, combine 4 cups of filtered water with 1 cup of granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring continuously until the sugar completely dissolves.

  2. 2

    Add Natural Flavor Extract

Once the sugar is dissolved, add 2 teaspoons of natural flavor extract of your choice (e.g., vanilla, lemon, or root beer) to the mixture. Stir well to combine.

Adding Acidulant

  1. 3

    Incorporate Citric Acid

Stir in 1 teaspoon of citric acid into the mixture. This will enhance the flavor and provide a slight tartness to balance the sweetness.

Optional Coloring

  1. 4

    Add Natural Coloring (if desired)

If you wish to add color to your soda, add 1 drop of natural food coloring to the mixture and stir until the color is uniform.

Carbonation

  1. 5

    Combine with Carbonated Water

Let the mixture cool completely. Once cooled, gently combine it with 2 cups of carbonated water in a large pitcher. Stir gently to maintain the carbonation.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve Chilled

Pour the Capt’n Eli’s Soda over ice in glasses and serve immediately. Enjoy your all-natural, preservative-free soda!
