Prepare the Chili

Cook the Beef
In a large pot or Dutch oven, over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.

Add Beans and Tomatoes
Stir in the kidney beans, black beans, and diced tomatoes (with juice) into the pot.

Season the Chili
Add chili powder, ground cumin, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

Simmer
Pour in the water or beef broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer uncovered for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve the Chili

Prepare Toppings
While the chili is simmering, prepare the toppings by shredding the cheese and arranging the tortilla chips on a serving platter.

Assemble the Dish
Once the chili is ready, ladle it into bowls. Top with shredded cheese, a generous scoop of pico de gallo, and serve with tortilla chips on the side.
