Burger Components

Sautéed Onions

Mushroom Gravy

Chili

Method

Preparing the Burger

  1. 1

    Form the Patties

In a bowl, season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Form it into two equal-sized patties.

  2. 2

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy. Remove and set aside.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

In the same skillet, cook the beef patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar and a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty to melt.

Sautéing Onions

  1. 4

    Sauté the Onions

In a separate pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Slice the onion and add it to the pan. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they are soft and slightly caramelized.

Making the Mushroom Gravy

  1. 5

    Cook the Mushrooms

In the skillet used for the bacon, melt butter over medium heat. Add chopped mushrooms and sauté for about 5 minutes until they are tender.

  2. 6

    Prepare the Gravy

Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir well. Gradually add beef broth while stirring to prevent lumps. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 3-5 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 7

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, layer the lettuce, tomato slices, the beef patty with melted cheese, sautéed onions, a layer of chili, and finally the mushroom gravy.

  2. 8

    Top and Serve

Place the top half of the bun on the burger and serve immediately with a side of fries or your favorite side.
