Method

Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Patties

In a large bowl, season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Shape the mixture into 4 equal patties.

  2. 2

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  3. 3

    Grill the Patties

In the same skillet or on a grill, cook the beef patties over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until the desired doneness is achieved.

  4. 4

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar and a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and cover until melted.

Sautéed Onions and Mushroom Gravy Preparation

  1. 5

    Sauté Onions

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until translucent.

  2. 6

    Add Mushrooms

Stir in the sliced mushrooms and cook for another 5 minutes until they are softened.

  3. 7

    Make Gravy

In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Add the beef broth to the saucepan and bring to a simmer. Stir in the cornstarch slurry to thicken the gravy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Assemble the Loaded Burger

On the bottom half of each hamburger bun, place a lettuce leaf and a slice of tomato. Top with the cooked beef patty, followed by 2 slices of bacon. Generously ladle the mushroom gravy over the bacon and patty. Top with a spoonful of canned chili. Place the top half of the bun on and serve immediately.
