Method

Mushrooms Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Mushrooms

Gently wipe the fresh mushrooms with a damp cloth to remove any dirt. Trim the stems if necessary.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Breading

In a shallow bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Make the Batter

In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk until well combined. Gradually add the flour mixture to the egg mixture, stirring until smooth.

Frying the Mushrooms

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  2. 5

    Coat the Mushrooms

Dip each mushroom into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated. Allow excess batter to drip off.

  3. 6

    Fry the Mushrooms

Carefully place the battered mushrooms into the hot oil. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.

  4. 7

    Drain the Mushrooms

Remove the fried mushrooms from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Horseradish Sauce Preparation

  1. 8

    Mix the Sauce

In a small bowl, combine the prepared horseradish, sour cream, and lemon juice. Stir until well blended.

  2. 9

    Season the Sauce

Add salt and black pepper to taste. Mix well. Adjust seasoning according to your preference.
