Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Season the cube steaks with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder on both sides.

  2. 2

    Bread the Steak

In a shallow dish, combine 1 cup of flour with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Dredge each steak in the flour mixture, then dip into the egg mixture, and finally back into the flour mixture to coat.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat 1 cup of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.

  2. 4

    Fry the Steaks

Carefully add the breaded steaks to the hot oil in batches. Fry each side for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Gravy Preparation

  1. 5

    Make the Gravy

In the same skillet used for the steaks, add 1 cup of flour to the remaining oil and whisk to combine, cooking for about 1-2 minutes until lightly browned.

  2. 6

    Add Milk

Slowly whisk in 2 cups of milk, stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Continue cooking until the gravy thickens, about 3-5 minutes.

  3. 7

    Season the Gravy

Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to taste. Stir well.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve the Dish

Serve the fried steak hot, topped with the gravy. Enjoy!
