Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate Catfish

In a large bowl, combine the catfish fillets with lemon juice, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Toss to coat evenly and let marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Grilling or Frying

  1. 2

    Prepare for Grilling

Preheat your grill to medium heat. Brush the grill grates with olive oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 3

    Grilling the Catfish

Place the marinated catfish fillets on the grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.

  3. 4

    Prepare for Frying

If frying, heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. In a shallow bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, and cayenne pepper.

  4. 5

    Coat the Catfish

In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Dip each marinated fillet into the egg mixture, then dredge in the cornmeal mixture until fully coated.

  5. 6

    Frying the Catfish

Carefully place the coated fillets into the hot oil. Fry for about 4-6 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
