Method

Preparation of Topping

  1. 1

    Dice the Tomatoes

Wash the tomatoes and cut them into small, even-sized cubes. Remove any seeds if desired.

  2. 2

    Mince the Garlic

Peel the garlic cloves and finely mince them using a knife or a garlic press.

  3. 3

    Chop the Basil

Wash the fresh basil leaves and stack them. Roll them tightly and slice them into thin strips (a technique called chiffonade).

  4. 4

    Mix the Topping

In a medium bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, minced garlic, chopped basil, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Toss everything gently until well mixed. Set aside to let the flavors meld.

Preparation of Bread

  1. 5

    Prepare the Baguette

Slice the baguette diagonally into 1/2 inch thick slices.

  2. 6

    Grill the Bread

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat. Lightly brush each slice of baguette with olive oil on both sides. Grill the bread slices until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Top the Bread

Once the bread is grilled, remove it from the grill and place it on a serving platter. Spoon the tomato topping generously onto each slice of grilled bread.

  2. 8

    Serve

Serve the bruschetta immediately while the bread is still warm. Enjoy!
