Cook the Oats
In a medium saucepan, bring the water and salt to a boil. Stir in the steel cut oats, reduce the heat to low, and simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, for about 20-30 minutes or until the oats are tender and have absorbed most of the water.

Prepare the Toppings
While the oats are cooking, slice the banana and measure out your milk, brown sugar, and raisins.

Serve
Once the oatmeal has reached your desired consistency, remove it from the heat. Spoon the oatmeal into bowls, and top each serving with milk, brown sugar, banana slices, and raisins as desired.
