Salmon

Method

Preparing the Salmon

  1. 1

    Season the Salmon

Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  3. 3

    Sear the Salmon

Carefully place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the hot skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes until the skin is crispy and golden.

  4. 4

    Flip the Salmon

Using a spatula, gently flip the salmon fillets and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

  5. 5

    Remove from Heat

Once cooked, remove the salmon from the skillet and place it on a plate. Cover it loosely with foil to keep warm.

Making the Lemon Butter Sauce

  1. 6

    Melt the Butter

In the same skillet over medium heat, add the unsalted butter. Allow it to melt completely, scraping up any bits from the bottom of the pan.

  2. 7

    Add Garlic

Once the butter is melted and bubbling, add the minced garlic. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  3. 8

    Add Lemon Juice and Zest

Stir in the fresh lemon juice and lemon zest, allowing the sauce to simmer for 1-2 minutes.

  4. 9

    Finish with Parsley

Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the chopped fresh parsley. Season with additional salt and pepper to taste.

Serving

  1. 10

    Plate the Dish

Serve the pan-seared salmon fillets topped with the lemon butter sauce. Garnish with extra parsley if desired.
