Method
Gnocchi Preparation
- 1
- 2
Make the Dough
Once potatoes are cool enough to handle, peel and mash them until smooth. In a mixing bowl, combine mashed potatoes, flour, egg, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Shape the Gnocchi
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently. Divide the dough into 4 portions, rolling each into a long rope about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into 1-inch pieces and press gently with a fork to create ridges.
- 4
Cook the Gnocchi
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add gnocchi in batches; they are done when they float to the surface (about 2-3 minutes). Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.
Blush Sauce Preparation
- 5
Sauté Garlic
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- 6
Add Tomatoes and Cream
Add crushed tomatoes and bring to a simmer. Stir in heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 7
Add Basil
Stir in fresh basil and remove from heat. Adjust seasoning to taste.
Shrimp Preparation
- 8
Season Shrimp
In a bowl, toss shrimp with salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Let marinate for about 10 minutes.
- 9
- 10
Combine Everything
Add the cooked shrimp to the blush sauce and stir gently. Finally, toss in the cooked gnocchi to coat them with the sauce.
