Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatball Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, egg, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Bake the Meatballs

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes or until they are browned and cooked through.

Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté the Aromatics

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.

  2. 5

    Add the Tomatoes and Seasoning

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Combine Meatballs with Sauce

Add the baked meatballs to the sauce and let them simmer together for an additional 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.

  2. 7

    Assemble the Dish

In a baking dish, layer the meatballs and sauce, then top with shredded mozzarella cheese. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  3. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh basil before serving. Enjoy your delicious Meatball Parmigiana!
