Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Wash and Dry Vegetables

Thoroughly wash the romaine lettuce, tomato, and cucumber under cold water. Pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towel.

  2. 2

    Chop the Lettuce

Remove the core from the romaine lettuce and chop it into bite-sized pieces. Place it in a large salad bowl.

  3. 3

    Dice the Tomato

Cut the tomatoes into quarters, remove the seeds, and then dice them into small pieces. Add to the salad bowl.

  4. 4

    Slice the Cucumber

Peel the cucumber if desired, then slice it in half lengthwise. Remove the seeds with a spoon, then slice into half-moons. Add to the salad bowl.

Topping the Salad

  1. 5

    Add Toppings

Add the black olives and pepperoncini to the bowl with the chopped romaine, tomato, and cucumber. Toss gently to combine.

  2. 6

    Grate the Cheese

Using a microplane or box grater, grate the Parmigiano cheese over the top of the salad to your desired amount.

  3. 7

    Serve

Toss the salad again gently to distribute the toppings evenly. Serve immediately with your choice of dressing.
