Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 2
Prepare the Chicken
Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness of about 1/2 inch. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
Breading
- 3
Set Up Breading Station
In three separate shallow dishes, place the flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs. Dip each chicken breast first in the flour, then in the egg, and finally in the breadcrumbs, ensuring they are fully coated.

Brown the Chicken
In a large skillet over medium heat, add a little olive oil. Once hot, add the breaded chicken breasts and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- 5
Prepare for Baking
Once browned, transfer the chicken breasts to a baking dish. Pour the marinara sauce evenly over each piece, then sprinkle with shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.
Baking
- 6
Bake the Chicken
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C).
Garnishing and Serving
- 7
Garnish and Serve
Remove the chicken from the oven, garnish with fresh basil leaves, and serve hot with pasta or a side salad.
