Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Oven

Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust them with flour.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a medium saucepan, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt over low heat, stirring until smooth and combined. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Eggs and Sugar

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, whole eggs, and egg yolks until the mixture is thick and pale.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, and add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Gently fold in the flour until just combined.

  5. 5

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

  6. 6

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is soft.

  7. 7

    Serve

Let the lava cakes cool for 1 minute, then run a knife around the edges to loosen. Invert onto plates and serve immediately. Enjoy your gooey chocolate center!
