Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dry Rub

In a bowl, combine brown sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.

  2. 2

    Season the Meat

Rub the dry rub mixture all over the pork shoulder, ensuring it is evenly coated. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Prepare the Cooking Liquid

In a slow cooker, combine apple cider vinegar and chicken broth. Stir to mix them well.

  2. 4

    Cook the Pork

Place the seasoned pork shoulder in the slow cooker, on top of the liquid mixture. Cover and cook on low heat for 8-10 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded with a fork.

  3. 5

    Shred the Pork

Once the pork is cooked, carefully remove it from the slow cooker. Let it cool slightly, then use two forks to shred the meat into bite-sized pieces.

Serving

  1. 6

    Assemble the Sandwiches

Place a generous amount of shredded pork on the bottom half of each bun. Top with coleslaw and drizzle with BBQ sauce. Cover with the top half of the bun.

  2. 7

    Serve

Serve the pulled pork sandwiches warm, with extra BBQ sauce on the side if desired.
