Prepare the Maple Smoke
Soak the maple wood chips in water for at least 30 minutes prior to smoking.

Prepare the Glass
Chill an Old Fashioned glass by filling it with ice water while you prepare the drink.
Mixing

Combine Ingredients
In a mixing glass, add 2 oz of Buffalo Trace Bourbon, 1 tsp of simple syrup, 2 dashes of Angostura bitters, and 2 dashes of black walnut bitters.

Stir
Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir the mixture for about 30 seconds until well chilled.
Smoking

Create Smoke
Using a smoking gun or a covered grill, introduce the soaked maple wood chips to create smoke. Aim the smoke into the chilled Old Fashioned glass.

Strain and Serve
Strain the stirred cocktail into the smoked Old Fashioned glass over a large ice cube.

Express the oils from a piece of orange peel over the drink, then add the peel as a garnish.
