Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the potatoes and cut them into equal-sized chunks to ensure even cooking.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Garlic

Peel the garlic cloves and set aside.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Boil the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a large pot, cover with water, and add a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.

  2. 4

    Cook the Garlic

In the last 5 minutes of cooking the potatoes, add the garlic cloves to the pot to soften them.

  3. 5

    Drain the Potatoes and Garlic

Once the potatoes are cooked, drain them and the garlic in a colander, allowing them to steam dry for a minute.

Mashing

  1. 6

    Mash the Potatoes and Garlic

Return the drained potatoes and garlic to the pot. Add in the butter and milk. Use a potato masher or a fork to mash the mixture until smooth and creamy.

  2. 7

    Season the Mash

Add salt and black pepper to taste, and mix well. If desired, fold in chopped fresh parsley for added flavor.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve Warm

Transfer the garlic mash to a serving bowl. Enjoy it warm as a side dish!
