Fried Pickles

Fried Jalapeños

Dipping Sauce

Method

Prepare the Fried Pickles

  1. 1

    Set Up the Breading Station

In one bowl, combine the flour, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk until smooth.

  2. 2

    Coat the Pickles

Dip each dill pickle chip into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and finally back into the flour mixture, making sure they are well-coated.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully drop the coated pickle chips into the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Prepare the Fried Jalapeños

  1. 5

    Prepare the Jalapeños

Slice the jalapeños in half lengthwise and remove the seeds for less heat, or leave them if you prefer spicier jalapeños.

  2. 6

    Set Up the Breading Station

In one bowl, combine the flour, salt, and cayenne pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk until smooth.

  3. 7

    Coat the Jalapeños

Dip each jalapeño half into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and finally back into the flour mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.

  4. 8

    Heat the Oil

If the oil is not already hot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C) in a large pot or deep fryer.

  5. 9

    Fry the Jalapeños

Carefully place the coated jalapeño halves into the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Serve

  1. 10

    Plate and Serve

Arrange the fried pickles and jalapeños on a serving platter and serve hot with ranch dressing on the side for dipping.
